In recent years, the rise of generative AI technology has posed a significant challenge to the authenticity and trustworthiness of digital content. The ability to convincingly manipulate videos and audio has raised concerns about scams, misinformation and identity theft. HTX shares some interesting techniques in detecting generated media and the work that has been done in-house to detect audio and video deepfakes by leveraging state-of-the-art technology.

Biometrics Institute’s FR Workshop and Meeting

This session led by the Biometrics Institute in partnership with Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and HTX’s Biometrics & Profiling Centre of Expertise (B&P CoE), is an integral component of TechXSummit 2024, with a focus on showcasing biometrics as a critical technology for advancing homeland security.

The FR workshop is a closed-door event in the morning and is for invited participants and BI members.

The afternoon meeting starts at 2pm and is open to conference pass holders.

Participants will receive updates on the development of biometrics standards and engage in discussions about key considerations for biometric applications at border crossings, best practices for implementation, and addressing the contemporary challenges associated with garnering public acceptance for biometric technologies. Additionally, we will delve into the crucial topic of challenges and potential vulnerabilities, including discussions on security measures against attacks on biometrics.

HTX - IEEE Emerging Technologies for Public Safety Workshop

This workshop, which is led by HTX’s Disruptive Technologies Office (DTO) in collaboration with IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional organisation dedicated to advanced technologies, forms an integral part of the TechX Summit 2024, to explore the reciprocal and synergistic relationship of academia and public security in driving research and operations together.

Wonder how advances in space technologies, geo-climate studies, material sciences and AI in cybersecurity can impact public security? In this inaugural HTX-IEEE Public Safety Workshop, participants will be exposed to new perspectives on how emerging technologies are transforming, and can potentially be used to enhance public safety, through informative talks and engaging panel discussion with international IEEE researchers, thought leaders, and Singapore Home Team officers.

International Forum to Advance First Responder Innovation (IFAFRI) Annual Meeting

This session, led by IFAFRI and HTX’s Civil Defence Programme Management Centre (CD PMC), forms an integral part of TechX Summit 2024. The goal of IFAFRI is to enhance and expand the development of affordable technology and innovation to improve first responder safety, efficiency and effectiveness. Under this premise, member states have organised themselves to work on the capability gaps of first responders, to track research and development activities and to connect stakeholders.

IFAFRI will kick-start its Annual Meeting 2024 in Singapore, co-hosted by HTX and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). For the session at TechX Summit 2024, member states will present their achievements, lessons identified and learnt, so as to benefit first responders, governments, academia and the industry.

Leaders in Crisis Management Forum

The inaugural Leaders in Crisis Management Forum, or LCMF, is an international forum which brings together leading local, international, professional and academic personalities to share their rich experience and perspectives in crisis management relating to public safety and security.

The LCMF, which is led by the Singapore Home Team Academy, forms an integral part of the TechX Summit 2024 as there are synergies from discussing crisis leadership with homeland security and technology.

During the one-day forum, the speakers will share their perspectives related to the theme on “Leading and Learning in the Polycrisis World”. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange views with the speakers who are global and local thought leaders in safety and security.

Navigating AI Frontiers in Homeland Security

This workshop, led by HTX’s Sense-making and Surveillance Centre of Expertise (S&S CoE), forms an integral part of the TechX Summit 2024, and seeks to define a future where AI and national security can harmonise seamlessly. With dialogues and presentations from thought leaders in the AI and Homeland Security space, this workshop is open to all discerning minds in the international community from the Government sector, industry, and academia.

The workshop will deep dive into insights for enabling infrastructure to accelerate AI development, securing trust in deployment, and addressing challenges in frontier AI. During the workshop, participants will embark on a transformative journey to discover how AI can be leveraged effectively for the enhancement of Homeland Security and engage in intellectual conversations to shape the future of responsible AI adoption.
