Volunteer Befriender

As a Volunteer Befriender, you will be engaging children at the ComLink activity space to teach them and help them develop basic literacy skills of reading.

Do take note that all the sessions will be conducted PHYSICALLY, we will only subject to conducting it virtually if safe management measures apply.

Additionally, all volunteers have to be FULLY VACCINATED to be accepted into the programme.

Volunteer Befrienders are required to commit to:

1) Orientation and Training (Physical) (Compulsory)

3 Dec 2022, 9am to 5.30pm

Please note:

• Further details will be shared via email when you have been accepted for the volunteering opportunity. 
• Programme content and tips on befriending will be shared during this session.
• All volunteer befrienders have to be trained before deployment.

2) Eight engagement sessions (Physical)

• 7 Jan - Session 1
• 14 Jan – Session 2
• 21 Jan – Session 3 (Chinese New Year eve)
• 28 Jan – Session 3
• 4 Feb – Session 4
• 11 Feb – Session 5
• 18 Feb – Session 6
• 25 Feb - Session 7
• 4 Mar - Session 8

Please note:

• Volunteer Befrienders will be physically engaging children in small groups in accordance with safe management measures.
• Volunteer Befrienders have to commit to all 8 engagement sessions. 
• Please select ALL shifts when applying for this opportunity. Only Volunteer Befrienders who are able to commit to the Orientation & Training session and 8 engagement sessions will be accepted into the programme. 

Disclaimer 
To ensure safety for the children from ComLink families, all KidsLearn volunteers will be required to also sign up as a volunteer with MSF and clear a security screening process for suitability to be a child befriender. Do note that the screening process will take 1 month, and we will not be able to accept volunteers who are unable to clear the security screening process. Feel free to approach us if you may have any concerns.
