INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the official site for the Data Arcade Tournament (DAT) 2021, an annual visual analytics competition exclusive for officers serving in the Singapore Public Service.

Organised by the Government Technology Agency’s Data Science and AI division, this 5-month long visual analytics competition celebrates visual analytics talents from across all government agencies, encouraging officers to upskill their data capabilities and be more data driven in their work.

Arcade Mode Entry will be judged broadly based on the following criteria

Coherent narrative supported by good use of charts and dashboards

Choosing and Preparing the data
Narrative – Viz Coherence
Insights
Dashboard Interactivity
Selection of Charts and Graphs
Complexity of Data sets

Recommendations and Conclusions (20%)

Provide good recommendations and conclusions

Displays understanding of the context and business users for dataset used
Sharpness of the Narrative
Impact of recommendations and conclusions to the specific dataset owner in the submission

Visual Design (20%)

Use of good visual design principles

Colours and visual appeal
Use of good preattentive attributes (Gestalts Principles)
Dashboard layout and items placement
