National Digital Literacy Programme (NDLP)

National Digital Literacy Programme @ Maris Stella High School

At MOE’s Committee of Supply Debate in March 2020, MOE launched the National Digital Literacy Programme (NDLP) for our schools and Institutes of Higher Learning to help students strengthen their digital literacy at different stages of their education journey, from primary schools to Institutes of Higher Learning.

Digital Literacy Skills in the "Find, Think, Apply, Create" Framework

Students acquire digital skills required to navigate the digital age through four mutually reinforcing components in the "Find, Think, Apply and Create" framework.

Through the National Digital Literacy Programme (NDLP), the school hopes to nurture the self-directed and connected future ready learner. To achieve that, students would need to acquire certain digital skills that allow them to leverage on technology to do the following an effective, ethical and safe manner:

  1. learning with resources and people online;

  2. curating digital content and information;

  3. connecting and communicating digitally; and

  4. creating digital products.

The Intended Outcomes of the PLD Initiative

The PLD will be used in tandem with the national e-learning platform - the Singapore Student Learning Space (SLS) - as well as other educational technology to personalise and enhance students' learning. This will also enable students to acquire digital skills and apply these skills as they navigate an increasingly digitalized world.

The use of the personal learning device for teaching and learning aims to:

Enhance Teaching and Learning

Support self-directed and collaborative learning

Support the Development of Digital Literacies

PLDs harness technology for greater effectiveness in teaching and learning, enabled by teachers' use of e-Pedagogy to provide learning experiences for students
PLDs enable students to learn online according to their needs and interests and to collaborate with each other, anytime and anywhere
PLDs provide an immersive environment for students to develop the dispositions, knowledge and skills to thrive in the digital environment

The following videos by MOE will tell you more about the experiences of the students and teachers from various schools who have been on the PLD journey.
